The lodgings for Bear Hunts BC are based out of Sumanik’s Sanctuary.
Sumanik’s Sanctuary is a outfitting camp approximately an hour south of Vanderhoof, BC and just a few kilometers away from Finger Lake Resort.
The main lodge has a kitchen and wood stove, electricity, bathroom with hot shower, and an ample sleeping area. This is the main area where hunters gather to eat, plan the day, and swap mostly true stories. Warm meals are provided every day and you are welcome to bring along any creature comforts from home.
The main door opens onto the large covered deck, seen in the photo here. This is an idea place to unwide after a long day of hunting. At the open end of the deck there is also a fire pit area with seating, and ample firewood to keep the good time going late into the night.
The other door, from the sleeping area opens onto yet another deck that overlooks Finger Creek and the beautiful scenery around it. Enjoying a morning coffee and a hot breakfast with a view like this always makes the day start right. Just below the lodge is another log cabin with its own countertop with living space on the main floor and sleeping space in the loft. Accross the creek are three other smaller log cabins, perfect for a couple, each with their own sleeping area and wood stove.
Internet access is available just down the road at Finger Lake Resort. Cellular service, though not in range at the camp, is available at certain spots a few miles close to the camp, so you can still stay connected to home and update your loved ones on the great time you’re having. Hot meals, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages are all provided, so the only thing you need to bring are some creature comforts, a rifle, and a hunger for a good time.
